Steve
Steve, a recognized industry leader in building operational strategy, has participated in Lean transformations of companies at
opposite ends of the industry spectrum. At defense aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin in Ft. Worth, TX, he built operational best practices for use in the successful bid for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. He incorporated these best practices into the revolutionary moving assembly line for the F-35 Production Program. He also was instrumental in leading Luminant Power
Co. (formerly state-regulated TXU Corp., now a privately held electric generation company) to transform their operational
practices into greater levels of excellence by implementing Lean Sigma methodology. Based upon the Toyota Production System
and Six Sigma principles, the Luminant Operational Excellence Initiatives have delivered hundreds of millions of dollars in value
capture by assisting fossil-fueled power plants, surface mining sites, and a nuclear-fueled power plant to increase generation and
reliability, decrease major overhaul outage cycle times, and instill a high-performance culture into front line employees. The
accomplishments of these companies were heralded by being first in their industries to be recognized by the Shingo Prize for
Operational Excellence.
As an experienced Shingo Prize examiner, Steve has led many plant sites through the Shingo Prize application process and their eventual recognition as prize recipients. In his ten years of participation in this assessment process, he has conducted
numerous team site visits in multiple and diverse North American companies as; Delphi Corporation, Raytheon Company, F-16
Overhaul Depot, Ford Motor Company, Volvo Construction Equipment, Baxter Healthcare, Wiremold Co., and many others.
Steve also has been a participant in the Shingo Research Prize to recognize research and writings regarding new knowledge and
understanding of manufacturing processes. Steve received Six Sigma Expert training through Air Academy Associates and Lean
Production and Logistics Kaizen through the Shingijutsu Global Consulting Company. He is a frequent speaker at lean focused
conferences as; Annual Shingo Prize Conference, AME Regional Conference, Partners in Business Operational Excellence, Greater
Boston Manufacturing Partnership, and The Energy Forum for Process Excellence. He received a BS in Business Management
from Letourneau University.
